Hello Colleagues.

Revels is having its fifth annual RiverSing on Sunday, September 21, on the Weeks Footbridge near Harvard Square. I would love to have representatives from all of your choruses be part of this uplifting celebration of the fall equinox. We sing familiar songs from choral risers on the bridge as thousands gather on the banks to join in, accompanied by a folk band and led by various soloists. There is no rehearsal, just downloadable word sheets with keys and chords indicated. Improvisation is encouraged. We start at 6 p.m., sing through sunset and wrap up at 7:30 with my “River Hymn,” written for the occasion. Short and sweet.

Please announce this to your singers and ask them to sign up with me. It would be helpful but not necessary if someone in your organization wanted to be the point person for interested singers. I encourage people to wear a T shirt or other article of clothing that identifies which chorus they sing with.

Thanks for spreading the word about this. I look forward to hearing from you.

You can see photos of last year’s RiverSing at http://www.revels.org/coming_events/riversingredux07.htm. I can send you audio clips if you want to hear it as well.
